Sarah Wald
Sarah Wald was born in Chicago. She attended Columbia University in the City of New York for her bachelor’s degree in music with a focus in composition. While at Columbia, Sarah studied composition with Tristan Murail and Arthur Kampela, as well as with Robert Lombardo in Chicago. She also studied flute with Sue Ann Kahn. Sarah then studied with Conrad Susa and David Garner at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for her master’s degree in composition. For her master’s thesis, she composed and produced Elegy for a Lady: a Music Drama in One Act. As a graduate student at the University of California, Davis, Sarah was awarded a Graduate Scholars Fellowship for her first year. She recently finished her PhD in composition and music theory. Her dissertation advisor was Kurt Rohde.

Derek Sup
Derek Sup is a multi-instrumentalist and composer born in Sacramento, CA, and is currently based in Oakland, CA. He graduated from Willamette University in 2014 with a Bachelor's of Music in Composition. In Oakland, he is the founder and director of the Free Key Choir, a 100-voice choir that sings all original works. He is the organist and music director at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland, where he directs several choirs and provides music for all services. He is also co-founder and director of the Glenview Classical Series, a non-profit entity that brings monthly classical music concerts to Oakland. As a recording artist, Derek has released a full-length album of his own songs and writes and records in several bands, including Little Arcs and Katsy Pline. He is a busy composer and arranges many works for the Free Key Choir, as well as choirs all across the country.
